Tribulus fruit, known around the world by names including Caltrop, Gokhru, Gokshura, ChotaGokhru, Bai Ji Li, Devil's Weed and Puncture Vine, has been used in traditional Indian Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine for many centuries.
As the fruit is covered in sharp spines, care must be taken when handling it. It is also important to use a fine mesh tea strainer when making the tea.
Traditionally tribulus is considered to be a diuretic and useful for bodybuilding, in treating sexual disorders and as a libido enhancer / aphrodisiac. It is historically also regarded as useful for enhancing energy and vitality and may help build muscle and strength.
Studies are also being conducted to establish whether it may be useful for promoting healthy cell growth.
